Founder of REME-D, Salma Tammam, on redefining healthcare in the Middle East and Africa

Salma Tamman, the founder of REME-D., a deep-tech company that is redefining healthcare through innovation in accessible and affordable disease testing. Salma is a passionate scientist and entrepreneur dedicated to developing innovative healthcare solutions in developing countries. After earning her PhD in nanomedicine, she founded Reme-D in 2022, which develops diagnostics for underserved markets. Her work bridges the healthcare divide by fostering local innovation and manufacturing capabilities in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).

REME -D leverages biotechnology, nanotechnology and bioinformatics in the development of diagnostic kits that are especially designed for the Middle-East and Africa. In comparison to kits sold by international suppliers from the USA/ EU/China, Reme-D’s tests are stable at room temperature, have a much shorter testing protocol and are more affordable.
